Based on a typical small town railroad building, the Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Golden Valley Depot looks at home on steam and early diesel-era layouts. Where mainline meets Main Street you'll find the local train station. This charming combination station (so called as it combines office, waiting room and freight room into one building) is typical of small town stations all across the US and Canada. Ideal for any era, many are still standing today and of those plenty have been repurposed as museums and businesses. This easy-to-build kit features parts molded in gray for easy painting and includes a positionable semaphore-style train order signal, a brick platform in the traditional herringbone pattern, interior walls with molded details, wooden interior floor, a baggage cart and signs. This wooden depot kit also includes station name signs matching those included with the Golden Valley Freight House (933-3533, sold separately). Golden Valley Depot is one of a wide variety of Cornerstone HO Scale railroad buildings.

The Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale 90' Turntable is based on those used at small steam engine terminals. A vital part of train operations, this kit has ben carefully designed to fit most layouts and the 90' turntable has a one-piece pit for drop-in mounting. Once assembled, the bridge is manually positionable. The kit includes the pit, gear drive, realistic decals and complete instructions. Complete hookup instructions cover wiring, adding track and more. The detailed bridge includes the operator's cab, handrails and a traditional arch (used to supply electrical power to the drive motors on the prototypes). The Walthers Cornerstone HO Scale Bridge Crane is an ideal addition to waterfront industrial or transloading scenes on your railroad. Coal is the life-blood of any coke or gas works and a ready supply is always needed. Many plants were located alongside waterways, which allowed massive amounts to be delivered by ship. To reach into their holds, special bridge cranes with longer booms extending beyond the dock were used. These made quick work of unloading using a large clamshell bucket to stockpile coal nearby. At steel mills these big cranes were also used to unload limestone; at other docks they were used for handling aggregates and ores. This impressive kit has a modular design and additional parts so you can build a longer or shorter version to fit your available space. With its superbly detailed steel truss work, operators cab, clamshell bucket, trolley and more, it will be a focal point of any scene. On the waterfront, it makes a great stand-alone coal or aggregate dock crane, and its a natural at a steel works handling iron ore, coal, and stone. The Bridge Crane is a natural addition among other Cornerstone HO Scale industrial buildings and especially among waterfront structures.

The prototypes for coal mine tipples like the Walthers Cornerstone New River Mining Company kit are typical of 1950s corrugated structures, many of which are still served today. Based on a trackside coal tipple for loading hoppers or gondolas, this easy-to-build kit features realistic corrugated metal construction, steel supports and separate ladders and stairways. New River is set up to load hoppers on three tracks, and if you're modeling a mine that loads coal trucks for short hauls you can choose to replace a track with a road. The New River Mining Co. also includes a conveyor with supports that can be run underground into the mine or distant mine head.
