Welcome to the dwelling of a wise and cunning beast guarding countless treasures he will only reveal to the one bold enough to face his mechanical magic! Behold – the magnificent Windstorm Dragon of the Ugears’ automatons collection is here to challenge your wits and skills in your next mechanical models adventure.
The Windstorm Dragon is a classic mythical reptilian, the embodiment of ancient might and power, presented in wood and animated by the wizardry of Ugears engineers.
Wooden DIY 3D puzzle Windstorm Dragon has an open-style design that allows you to see its mechanical heart – rubber-band motor – beating. The model has a winding key in the frontal part of its chest. To wind it up, hold the dragon by its body and rotate the key clockwise. Release the motor by pulling the start lever. This is when the magic begins: the arms, legs and even the whole body of the Dragon will start to move. And of course, the amazing pair of strong and beautiful wings will be set in motion. This is your Ugears Dragon’s very special feature: the bones of the wings are made of wood, but the rest is beautifully designed feathery paper cutouts. Softer and flexible material makes the flight look very realistic and leaves room for your own ideas.
The model can be set on a special support or hung on twine. It will look equally fascinating with its laser engraved scales and spiky tail. It’s a perfect gift for your family and friends.
Like all Ugears models, this automaton is made of high-grade wooden materials and comes with everything you need in the box. Solve the mechanical mystery of an ancient beast and become a Dragon Master with Windstorm Dragon Ugears model kit!
Marble Run Stepped Hoist
UTG0087
Regular price $59.99 Save $-59.99Introducing the mechanical Marble Run Stepped Hoist, the second in a series of Ugears modular marble runs. This fun and fascinating wooden marble run features an ingenious 3-stepped alternating lift mechanism and a set of new features to hold your attention as you watch the marbles make their cyclical journey. Multiple tracks and elements are packed into a compact space in this DIY marble run.
The model has a 3-stage alternating lift that hands the marbles back and forth as they climb to the top to embark on their amusement park adventures. Which marble will take which track, and which will make it down first? The wood Marble Run Stepped Hoist features a 3-marble accumulator in which the third ball opens the gates for the trapped first and second marbles, sending all three along their divergent paths. There are three tracks: the first consists of a 2-marble accumulator and serpentine run, the second is a hammer swing inside a C-shaped cradle, and the third has a whirlpool or funnel. All marbles eventually pass through the collection tray and into the seesaw lift. A rocker switch mechanism either sends the marbles back along the return track to the 3-stepped lift, or (and this is where it gets really exciting!) into another attached Ugears marble run.
We have designed the Ugears line of marble runs to be modular, that is, each model works as a standalone, or it can be connected frontally or laterally to other Ugears marble runs of the same or different design (2 or 4 models can be connected, in pairs, using the special connectors included in the kit). The rocker mechanism at the end of the run can send marbles in one direction or the other, or both directions (depending on the attached weight), returning marbles to the original hoist or sending them to a different marble run. With adjoining marble runs you now have an amazing, complex system of interconnected elements, all powered by a single crank. It's like a miniature amusement park! Keep an eye on your favorite marble—who knows where it will end up when it will return to its starting point, or what rides it will take along the way!
The Ugears Marble Run Stepped Hoist is an exciting combination of art and engineering. It is both a beautiful kinetic sculpture and an intricate toy that teaches as it entertains. As you build this ingenious wooden marble run, you will learn about the interplay of drive gears and driven gears and the function of counterweights. Turn the crank handle clockwise to set the machine in motion, and prepare to be mesmerized as the alternating stepped ladder collects, lifts, and passes the marbles back and forth until they reach the top of the machine to start their runs. UGears marble runs are strong. Rigidity in the structure is achieved through a strong base and tightened frame parts. A muscular gear drive delivers power to both lifts: the main 3-stepped alternating lift and the auxiliary seesaw lift.
Kids (and adults!) enjoy watching marbles going up and down tracks, passing through various obstacles, and racing through a course. Marble tracks are fascinating, they grab our attention, and yet they're also relaxing. Marble runs and races have become an unexpected online video phenomenon, with thousands of videos racking up millions of views. You choose marble to cheer for, you wonder which path it will take, you put yourself in the marble's place, imagining that you are going on a marvelous, unknown journey, with twists and turns and surprises around every corner. The thrill is even greater when you've built the marble track yourself—now you're not just passively watching a video, you're fully invested because you built a wondrous machine with your own hands.
Experience the satisfaction of building your own intriguing, 3D puzzle / kinetic sculpture/marble run from Ugears. Regular price $59.99 Save $-59.99What is it about marble runs that makes them so compelling? Kids (and adults!) can watch marbles going down a track, passing through various obstacles, for hours on end. Marble runs are fascinating, they grab our attention, and yet they're also relaxing. Marble runs and races have become an unexpected YouTube phenomenon, with thousands of videos racking up millions of views. You choose a marble to watch, to cheer for, you wonder which path it will take, you put yourself in the marble's place, imagining that you are right there with the glass ball, going on a marvelous, unknown journey, with twists and turns and surprises around every corner. The thrill is even greater when you've built the marble run yourself. Now you're not just passively watching a video, you're fully invested because you built a wondrous machine with your own hands.
Presenting the UGears mechanical Marble Run Chain Hoist model—an exciting combination of art and engineering. The Marble Run Chain Hoist is both a beautiful kinetic sculpture and an intricate toy that teaches as it entertains. This DIY wooden marble run features a chain hoist powered by a hand crank, and a series of tracks, each with its own unique and fun obstacle or element. Turn the handle clockwise to set the machine in motion, and watch as the wooden chain hoist collects and lifts the marbles to the top of the machine, where a 3-way switch distributes them on different tracks. One marble plunges down a chute with a loop-the-loop at the bottom; the next tumbles down the various stages of the cascades, while three others are collected in the accumulator then released down one of three short tracks. All marbles pass through the common tray or collector before returning to the chain hoist to be lifted on their next journey.
The Marble Run Chain Hoist is modular and can be connected to other Marble Run Chain Hoists (2 or 4 models can be connected, in pairs) using special connectors (included). Attach two mechanical Marble Run Chain Hoist models together frontally, or connect four together, both frontally and laterally, for a mini system of hoists and runs.
The world's tallest rolling ball sculpture, at 72 feet, is the "Energy Machine," located inside the Hong Kong Science Museum. At one foot tall our Ugears wooden marble run may not be the biggest, but we think it's the cutest! Multiple elements are packed into a compact space in our DIY Marble Run Chain Hoist, keeping you guessing which path your favorite marble will take. As marbles enter the 3-way switch each marble closes a "door" behind it, allowing the next marble to pass further. The third marble, passing through the last hole, opens the doors using a lever.
Experience the satisfaction of building your own intriguing, 3D puzzle/kinetic sculpture/marble run with your own hands. Everything you need for this fun DIY project comes right in the box, including pre-cut wooden boards, 10 marbles, wax, and sandpaper (for optimal gear function). Each Ugears model kit, 3D puzzle, or brain teaser comes with a set of detailed, illustrated instructions in 11 languages. The Marble Run Chain Hoist has 400 pieces, is rated "Medium" level, and has an estimated assembly time of 7 hours. As you build this ingenious wooden marble run, you will learn about the action and interplay of drive gears and driven gears in gear sets, the delicate action of counterweights, and be intrigued by the mechanics of the 3-way switch and accumulator as they determine the marbles' course.
You and your family will have hours of fun constructing this DIY kit together, without the need for glue or special tools. Just snap the wooden pieces out of their laser pre-cut boards, then snap them together and watch your marble run take shape. Our high-quality precision laser-cut pieces are made from natural wood composites, have a wonderful smell, and fit together snugly. If you break a piece during the build, no problem! Once you finish building this DIY marble run the fun is just beginning! Watch the wooden puzzle come to life as you crank the hoist to send the marbles on their adventures. For anyone looking for a toy that will give more than 5 minutes of fun, a marble run is certain to capture the attention of any child (or adult!).

Regular price $44.99 Save $-44.99The open road beckons with the UGears Motorcycle Scrambler UGR-10 with sidecar. You'll almost feel the breeze while you imagine cruising along with this delightful motorcycle model kit. The Scrambler will have you in awe as you appreciate its precision-cut parts and eco-friendly wood that has become synonymous with UGears high-quality craftsmanship.
Go back in time to the 50s when lightweight city motorcycles were designed for both highways and off-roading. The UGears Scrambler is based on this type of dual-sport motorcycle. You won't believe that this is just a replica when you see its fork and pendulum suspension on both front and back wheels, which delivers a smooth and steady ride. The fully animated opposing cylinder engine will bring delight to anyone familiar with motorcycles. Enjoy building and interacting with these mechanisms or use it as teaching moment to show engineering marvels in real-life situations. You can even choose to personalize your bike by painting it with watercolor paints. This type of paint won't interfere with the mechanisms and will make your bike look stunning.
Just like other UGears models, the motorcycle is powered by a motor consisting of just a rubber band, which is connected to the wheels by a belt coupling. You won't need any electronics here to watch the power of this beauty. All you need is the wind-up key, which can be found under the gas-tank hood. One full wind-up will have your motorcycle traveling 3 meters as you watch in amazement. We are not just talking about a straight path here either. You'll be able to steer whichever way you want using the rotating steering bars. But there is more to this model than just the Scrambler. You’ll find a unique sidecar that can be easily added on to the bike or kept separately. Want to surprise your loved one with a special note or tiny gift? Place it in the sidecar and let your Scrambler bring them a lovely surprise. Or, let your kids place their tiny figures into the attachment and watch them zoom away. When you're done playing, allow everyone to enjoy its beauty as a classic showpiece in any corner of your home.

Amber Box

Regular price $69.99 Save $-69.99The Amber Box from Ugears, the older sister of the Antique Box, is just as beautiful and fascinating as her little sister, but even more sophisticated. This beauty has all the cool features you can enjoy in the younger model with an extra touch: cleverly built-in natural amber inclusions to make your experience even more precious.
This model will help you to sort and store your jewellery and small miscellanea in style. Your treasures will now be accommodated within four carved walls with delicate floral designs and oriental ornaments. But the main highlight of this model is five decorative elements made of natural amber. As you know, Ugears models are built without glue or additional tools. All you need to put your new Amber Box together will be found inside the model’s package, including precious Amber stones that will be secured on the lid on the box with special clever fixtures.
The assembly of the Amber Box is an interesting process and great fun. Follow the comprehensive illustrated step-by-step instruction manual in 11 languages and you will successfully put your new model together. Made of eco-friendly materials of a high quality, the Antique Box has a pleasant fresh aroma of natural wood.
The Amber Box is a mechanical puzzle, which means it is not just a pretty fancy item, but a smart mechanism. To set it in motion, you need to pull the lid that will activate three main blocks: two of which are mirrored mechanisms on each side that move and turn the upper compartments. The third mechanical block moves the lower drawer in the middle of the Box. This step will grant you access to six compartments. Take it a step further and you will find two extra secret compartments. To discover those you need to feel the hidden button concealed on the back side of the Box – to accommodate your most valued treasures.
Just like its younger sister, the Amber Box will provide you with extra-security: its lid has a locking latch that keeps the Box’s contents inside and protects it from spillage in transportation or in case of an accidental tipping over.
The Amber Box is a unique and original model of the Ugears family that has all it takes to become an exquisite gift to somebody special or a true treasure of your own collection.

UGears Aero Clock
UTG0083
Regular price $91.99 Save $-91.99The time has come! For years, we've been hearing the same question again and again from our loyal customers: "Can Ugears create a working clock model kit, one that actually keeps accurate time?" A working mechanical wooden clock has long been our #1 "most-requested" new design. Your dream has also been our dream, and our team of dedicated Ugears engineers and designers has been working hard to bring this shared dream into reality. Finally, the wait is over. Ugears is proud to present the Aero Clock, a fully-functioning DIY wall clock with a pendulum.
The Aero Clock isn't just a 3D wooden mechanical model or a pretty showpiece. The Ugears Clock is an actual working clock that you can build yourself, mount to a wall, wind up, then watch as the seconds, minutes, and hours tick by. The Aero Clock is an ingenious puzzle and DIY clock mechanism, unlike any other clock. It is a lovely piece of precise engineering that reveals the workings of a weighted pendulum clock to builders and viewers alike. Like all Ugears models, it also has that extra touch of whimsy, to captivate and charm our growing legion of fans.
This simple-yet-elegant Ugears clock is driven by the force of gravity pulling down a weighted bag (you can fill the bag with sand or salt). Raise the bag on its pulleys to wind the clock. As the weight slowly descends, it rotates a drive gear, which then rotates an escape wheel through a reducer. The clock features an adjustable weighted pendulum that interacts with the escape wheel through the steady tick-tock of the anchor mechanism. You can adjust the clock's ticking action to the second, by sliding the pendulum's top and bottom weights. The reducer also transmits rotation to an hour disc and a minute disc. One of the interesting features of our Aero Clock is that time is not read with rotating hands on a clock face, but rather a fixed pointer indicates time on the slowly-rotating, numbered hour and minute discs. Moreover, these discs rotate counterclockwise—did you know that before standardization, some clocks moved clockwise while others moved counterclockwise? In the role of "cuckoo,” the Ugears Aero Clock features a model hot air balloon. The suspended balloon rapidly descends when the hour strikes, then slowly rises again over the course of the next hour.
The theme of the Aero Clock is early aeronautics. Take a trip back in time to the dawn of flight and the "balloon-mania" that seized France and England in 1783 on the occasion of the first free aerial voyage in a balloon. This was followed two years later by the first aerial crossing of the English Channel by intrepid aeronauts Jean-Pierre Blanchard and John Jeffries. We love this wooden model clock's steampunk sensibility and spirit of adventure, and we think you will too! Imagine yourself a discoverer of new horizons and a conqueror of the four winds. The casing and intriguing wooden clock mechanism represent an airbase located among the clouds, where zephyrs blow and filtered rays of sunlight dapple the machinery, while you, in the role of aeronaut, launch a new voyage of exploration on the hour.
The Ugears wooden model clock kit celebrates the role of clocks in exploration. Did you know the problem of calculating longitude, critical to accurate navigation at sea, was solved with a clock? The idea was proposed by Dutch mathematician Gemma Frisius in 1530, but it wasn't until the mid-18th century when English clockmaker John Harrison developed a series of shipboard clocks so precise (accurate to within a ⅕ of a second per day) that ship captains could, at last, calculate their position at sea to within a few nautical miles. By knowing the exact time back in London (Greenwich Meridian Time, or GMT), and calculating the time at current position with celestial observation, navigators could calculate where they were on the earth's surface. Latitude had been solved by the Phoenicians as early as 600 B.C. with celestial reckoning—measuring the altitude of the sun at noon, or the angle made between the North Star (or other navigational stars) and the horizon. But the longitude problem would bedevil explorers for another 2,000 years. Harrison was eventually awarded the £20,000 first prize (roughly $1.5 million today) established in Parliament's Longitude Act of 1714, after demonstrating the accuracy of his masterful clocks at sea. Now you too can become a clockmaker, with the Ugears Aero Clock model kit!
Released at a moment when the world seems to have slowed down, the Ugears Aero Clock, a wooden wall clock with a pendulum that you build yourself, is both time-full and timeless in its simple elegance. This beautiful and functional wooden wall clock model is for horologists, for hobbyists, for explorers, for creatives and romantics of every stripe, anyone who is ready for new challenges and ready to take risks. If you've ever gazed up at the sky and thought, "I want to be there!" or looked at a pendulum clock and wondered, "How does that work?" then the Ugears Aero Clock is for you.
As you build the Aero Clock, a wooden wall clock with a pendulum, you will learn the basic principles behind clockworks, how the steadying influence of a swinging pendulum operates through a rocking anchor, locking and unlocking the gears on an escapement one second at a time, thereby regulating the (slow) descent of a weight as it drives both power gears and timekeeping gears.
The Ugears' Aero Clock with a pendulum is a marvelous puzzle and the perfect family project. When you work together to assemble this DIY wooden clock model kit, you will experience the satisfaction of building something together and not just any model, but an actual functioning timepiece. Afterward, you'll have a beautiful object for the home, something your family can enjoy together as time goes by.
The Ugears Aero Clock with a pendulum is a new and exciting addition to the Ugears collection of fascinating mechanical models, 3D puzzles, game accessories, wooden puzzle boxes, children's toys, and education STEM Lab model kits.

UTG0088
Regular price $66.99 Save $-66.99We know you love car modeling and you love the Ugears Dream Cabriolet, Roadster, and U-9 Grand Prix. Well, make room on the shelf, because a powerful new mechanical model just muscled its way into the Ugears Automotive collection. Introducing the Drift Cobra Racing Car model kit, a beautifully styled, two-seat convertible—our twist on what may be the most revered sports car of all time: the Shelby Cobra 427. The Cobra 427, produced between 1965-67, had a 7.0 liter 450-510 horsepower engine, did 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds, and had a top speed of 185 mph.
Carroll Shelby, a former race car driver, and automotive designer was hired by the Ford Motor Co. to develop a high-performance racer able to compete with the dominant Italian race team of Ferrari. The Americans' four consecutive victories at the prestigious Le Mans 24-hour race between 1966-69, in Ford GT40s, is the stuff of legend. More recently, it was the subject of the Oscar-winning 2019 film, "Ford v Ferrari," starring Matt Damon as Shelby and Christian Bale as Ken Miles, the ace driver for the 1966 Ford team. The success of the cars coming out of Shelby's surfside Venice, California shop was the crest of a wave of American high-performance supercars or muscle cars, characterized by powerful V8 motors placed into relatively lightweight, mass-produced, rear-wheel-drive chassis. The Shelby Cobra stands out as an American icon, perhaps the greatest muscle car and most "posterized" car in history.
Designed for drag racing but street legal, muscle cars offer incredible automotive power at a relatively affordable price point. The scarcity and unbelievable auction prices today of some of these classic street beasts are due in no small part to the fact that they were often more cars than their owners could handle, resulting in frequent crashes. Muscle cars have squared off in many an illegal street race, sometimes with ownership papers on the line (another way to lose your muscle car!). In that spirit, why not convene a gathering of model-building friends, show off your newly-built Ugears Drift Cobra Racing Cars, put your car modeling prowess to the test, and race for pinks! But remember: the first rule of Ugears race club is: you do not talk about Ugears race club. The second rule of the Ugears race club is: you do not talk about Ugears race club!
Driven by a powerful spring motor, the Ugears Drift Cobra racing car has the fastest team of horses under the hood of any mechanical wooden model we know. The model is wound by means of a ratchet knob under the chassis. Before winding your 3-D wooden Drift Cobra model racing car, move the air filter that protrudes from the hood toward the windshield, and flip the switch in front of the passenger-side seat into the Lock position (parallel to the door). Now twist the ratchet underneath the car's body. After 6 to 6.5 turns of the knob the spring is fully loaded, and — vroom! vroom! — your racer is ready to roar! Set the gear shift lever, located between the driver and passenger seats, to the desired position (Reverse, Neutral, Drive). To start the model, set it down on a flat surface, slide the air filter forward, and watch your Cobra lay rubber in a spin-out (start with the wheels turned to one side), do circles, or speed down the track in a straight line.
We think this 3D puzzle / DIY model is a beauty, with its fat tires, bulging curves (thanks to pieces that are precision laser-cut into fine 1mm plywood), a big open mouth up front, and open-air convertible design. This wooden car's moving parts include turning front wheels, doors that open, and a hood and trunk that can be raised. Instead of a rubber band motor we've used a powerful spring mechanism to provide the "muscle" in this racer and extend the model's usable life. The ratchet mechanism means you don't have to hold the knob the entire time you're winding the model—potential energy is stored with each twist, without slippage, until the strong internal spring is fully loaded.
To put the model in "drift mode," turn the front wheels fully to one side or the other, set it down on a smooth surface such as tile, and watch as the model peels out in a sideways skid (ideally, your model should make a half to a full revolution before continuing forward, depending on the driving surface and turn angle of the wheels). When the wheels are set in their straight position, the model covers a lot of ground—8 meters or more! Set the wheels in a gentler turn, or put the racer down on a less slippery surface, and watch your Drift Cobra complete two or three full circles.
The DIY model kit for the Drift Cobra Racing Car includes 370 parts, with an estimated assembly time of nine hours, and is rated Advanced level. Why not take a page out of Carroll Shelby's book and experience the pride and satisfaction of building a beautiful, functional automotive machine with your own hands. Everything you need for this challenging but doable DIY wooden puzzle project comes right in the box: high-quality plywood boards with precision laser-cut pieces that you snap out then snap together without the need of glue or special tools, a metal spring that powers the mechanism, and of course a set of detailed, illustrated instructions in 11 languages.

Butterfly
121010
Regular price $52.99 Save $-52.99Fascinated by the unique synergy of nature and mechanics, Ugears continues to explore the amazing world of automatons and presents its latest mechanical pet, the Butterfly model.
The Butterfly is not a static stand model, but an animated kinetic sculpture. Each of its details designed to make sure it fits its own place and plays its own part in the workings of this outstanding mechanism. Equipped with a rubber-band motor, the mechanical automaton moves imitating the flutter of a butterfly with no external power source or batteries.
As with every model in the Ugears family, The Butterfly requires no glue or additional tools to assemble. You will build your new model out of ready-made details that come precisely pre-cut in high quality natural plywood boards. Slightly pushed, the details easily pop out of the board.
The assembly is constructed by blocks: initially, the details must be put together to form smaller blocks that in their turn will compose the whole model. The process of assembly is described in a comprehensive step-by-step instruction manual with detailed color illustrations, in 11 languages (English, German, French, Polish, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, and Korean). The size of the assembled model is 290 х 550 х 400 mm. The set includes 161 details.
The delicate wings of The Butterfly are made of craft paper. The lower wings change their tilt angle when the model is working to ensure that the movements of the automaton resemble those of a real butterfly. Two front pairs of its legs move while the wings flutter. The back pair of legs are used as launch/stop levers of the rubber-band motor. Your Butterfly comes with two sets of wings: a color one and a less bright, beige one, that you can paint as you like.
The Butterfly sits on a flower-shaped platform. The elastic support slightly bounces the model, making its movements more realistic so that The Butterfly dances and flutters in the air approaching the flower.
Ugears strives to share its knowledge and passion for smart mechanisms with children and adults, kids and parents. We want the complex and beautiful world of mechanics to become closer and more comprehensive. This is why the body of The Butterfly is designed in a skeleton-style, which allows you to see the working of gears and blocks inside and understand how the mechanism works.
This interesting and attractive model is fun to assemble, study, and play with. It can be a wonderful present to a friend, colleague or family member. The delicate iconic design from Ugears guarantees that your new model will look gorgeous in any home or office.
Cabriolet
120969
Regular price $78.99 Save $-78.99Looking back into the history of mechanics once again, Ugears couldn't miss such an important and interesting period, in a not-so-distant past, as the 50's. Rockabilly music, swing dresses, bobby socks and, of course, magnificent luxury cars and convertibles: feel a part of the time with our new ingenious work – The Dream Cabriolet VM-05.
The 50s had given automobiles a completely new look, producing absolutely unique recognizable designs. The Dream Cabriolet VM-05 is a highly detailed and extremely realistic tribute of the Ugears’ designers and engineers to the automobile industry highlights of that decade.
The model is traditionally equipped by a rubber-band motor that powers the mechanism and drives the car. The Cabriolet can go forward or back. To ensure you can take a close look at the beautiful eight-cylinder V configuration engine in operation, we introduced the idle mode. In this mode, your Cabriolet will stay still letting you look under the hood to appreciate the beauty of the moving gears. Should you want to put your vehicle in motion, pull the transmission lever on the steering column.
Both front and rear wheels of the model are suspended to make its ride ultimately smooth. Use the steering wheel to move the front wheel coupling and send the Dream Cabriolet in the direction you choose.
To make the design of this unique model even more realistic, Ugears engineers added a few important elements that make the automobile look extremely lifelike. We believe you will enjoy the window cranks and fully functional windshield wipers as well as a lifting jack and a repair toolkit mounted under the rear trunk.
Another mechanical feature is the trunk and hood opening mechanisms that add some extra-vividness to this highly detailed vintage vehicle.
Find your favorite retro radio station and your Dream Cabriolet will take you into the dreamlike 50s to share the best of what the decade has to offer.
The Ugears Dream Cabriolet VM-05 model kit is made of sustainably sourced high grade wood and has everything you will need for assembly. The quality of the parts is top-notch: a laser method is used for cutting items from a plywood board that provides precise hairline cuts. The details have to be pulled out of the boards and assembled to create a complete convertible. Like all other Ugears models, the Cabriolet comes with step-by-step, full-color, truly easy to follow instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Russian, Japan, Italian, Chinese and Korean) and requires neither glue nor special tools to be fully assembled into functional self-propelled Cabriolet.

UGears STEM LAB Differential
121089
Regular price $28.99 Save $-28.99Learn how the DIFFERENTIAL works:
The Differential is a stylised educational model, an interactive study guide to the mechanism, only for learning its essentials and principles of working. The Differential was designed to ensure that the drive wheels sitting on the same axle rotate with a different rate and cover different distances at the same time. This mechanism allows the car to make turns without the wheels skidding, prevents wheel-slip, reduces tyre wear, and makes entering and going out of turns easier for the driver. Having assembled the Differential, your can unblock it pushing the lever in position 1 (Up) and set both wheels in motion by rotation of the drive gear or the wheel. The Control lever regulates the smooth locking of the left and right wheels independently by turning left or right respectively. In the “down” position of the lever, both wheels are linked in a rigid coupling and can either rotate together (propelled by the drive gear or a wheel) or lock simultaneously (by the lever of the wheel).
When and who invented it:
The car differential was invented by French engineer Onesiphore Pecqueur in 1825. In the 1930s of the 20th century, German automotive engineer Ferdinand Porsche made significant improvements to the device.
Usage:
Differentials are used mainly in cars as a part of the transmission mechanism. They improve maneuverability and performance of a car.
o Assemble it and discover the principle of working of the Car Differential.
o The model comes with a Pocket Model’s Study Guide (click here to download) with a creation story and mechanism design as well as engaging and interesting tasks.
